A CASH DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED WHEN YOU MAKE A BOOKING. IF YOUR DESIGN IS VERY INVOLVED WE MAY ASK FOR A DRAWING UP FEE.

30 Station Road in Rainham is my 14th tattoo shop. I opened my 1st shop in Leeds in the late 80's when I was 27. After a spell working out of a caravan on a travellers site near York I fetched up in Hull where folk picked their tattoo off the wall and waited their turn in smoky waiting rooms in a time before the internet and smartphones.
Fate took me to Holland and the red light district of Groningen where I worked for a year. Tony's Tattoo Bar was notorious and I learnt a lot there but all good things come to an end and I jumped over the border to Germany where I worked for a half Turkish dwarf called Jochen.
In '97 I came back to England and my hometown of Chatham where I tried my luck in a little place called the In Shops. That was like the wild west down there and a lot of fun but I needed a bigger shop so moved around the corner to Church Street. That shop burnt down a few years later. We persevered for a while but Chatham was changing and Rainham was calling.
This shop on Station Road is my 14th and, for me, the best and where I hope to finish my career.
FAQ's
How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?
18, it's the law. No upper age limit though!
Is it safe?
We are a licensed tattoo studio. That means we comply with the codes of conduct and hygiene required by the Environmental Health Authority. Ink, needles and tubes are single use and safely disposed of after each customer.

Does it hurt?
It depends on you. The trick is being cool and breathing. If you have a low pain threshold you can take a painkiller before your appointment. Numbing creams are also becoming more popular.
Do you do walk ins?
Yes, if there is a spot available, we are happy to do walk ins.
Do you do cover ups?
Yes and we also have the experience to know what will work and what won't. Generally a cover up needs to be a little bigger and darker than what it's covering. You will have more options if the tattoo is faded.
Is there anything you won't do?
We don't like to turn away a tattoo. For different reasons I don't do faces, fingers, windpipes or 'below decks'. I'm a versatile artist and can nail most styles but I don't do portraits or hyper realism.
Can I bring my own design?
Of course. You need to be realistic though. We need you to come to the shop so we can look at your ideas and we can talk about placing, size etc. Then we can give a rough price on how long we think it will take.
Will I regret it?
A tattoo is a way of expressing yourself, a story, a memory, a tribute. If the tattoo is done badly you might but you're in good hands here. Be safe, not sorry.
Can I book online?
No, you'll physically need to come to the shop. We need to talk about design, placing, price etc. Face to face is the best way to do this. Plus a cash deposit is needed to secure a booking.
